National Park Hiking

The United States is home to 58 National Parks. They are some of the most beautiful in the world. These great gifts of nature invite us all to immerse ourselves in their majesty and wonder.

Yosemite National Park

Yosemite is one of the most beautiful National Parks in the world. There are so many natural wonders that can be seen from your car. But, to really fully experience all of it's glory, park the car and start hiking. Even though the park can get very crowded during the summer months, once you get about 50 feet from the road you will leave them all behind. Take your time, you will need several days to really experience it's amazing sights.

With your handicapped placard you will be able to park closer to some of the hikes below. Check out the Yosemite Accessibility Guide for more information.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks

Sequoia National Park is home to the most awe inspiring trees. The mighty Sequoia tree is the largest and longest living trees on Earth. The Giant Forest is home to half of Sequoias that exist. The General Sherman tree is not only the largest living tree in the world, but the largest living organism, by volume, on the planet.

This National Park is also rich with wildlife. It's very possible to see Black Bears. I have seen more bears in Sequoia than any other park that I have been to. Don't let this scare you away from Sequoia. Just keep your distance, especially when cubs are present. They are amazing creatures to observe and they don't have much interest or fear of the park visitors. Click HERE for bear encounter guidelines.

The trail descriptions below are in order based on entering the park through the Tree Rivers entrance. Be prepared for a 45 minute to an hour drive on a very twisty road.
